I have completely quit this.
Sometimes, those most harmful to you are those who you're supposed to trust. Family. As the front page of my site says, my sister outed me to my parents by showing them this website (libertinechick.com). My family did not react very nicely, and my envelope of discretion and psychological safety was punctured.
We all have dual roles and boundaries of privacy.
The reason why there appear to be no "classy" escorts in small towns, is that boundaries inherit in the concept of "dual roles" are not respected by others, including family. This business is too risky, too misunderstood, and emotions too fragile to endure small town noseyness. It is too easy to guess who one is, especially if they never fit in in the first place and made some mistakes starting out (which in a bigger city, would be trivial). That would be okay, except that in small towns people don't respect the nature of this sort of lifestyle.
With my sister breaching my discretion over a petty argument, I don't know who else she's told, who my mother has vented to, who my step mom has vented to, etcetera. I am not ashamed, but I have never been more embarrassed.
This week, I've been dealing with many mixed emotions. This "being outed" came from the least expected direction from one of the people I trusted the most, and who was family!
I am okay, and will be even better after I give myself some much needed "rest and relaxation". I wanted to say my farewells to this phase of life on the assurance that I have not quit for any reason connected with this industry (no bad experiences), and that it's been one of the most life-changing mind-opening times of my life. I've grown so much in this brief time!
